…then the Lexus RC F would be behind bars, probably serving a life sentence. The RC F if anything showcases a different side to this Japanese luxury car maker. Lexus is known for its luxury sedans and hybrid cars with a nod towards comfort and luxury instead of being overtly sporty unlike its European rivals. However the car you see here was conceived to change that very notion. The RC F does not have a hybrid powertrain. Instead it has a hulking great 5 litre V8 and gets styling that seems to be designed with a sword, looking at the sheer number of cuts and slashes draped on it.
It is a rather generously proportioned luxury sports coupe but it also cleaves the air like a proper track focused machine. As aptly demonstrated by these images, the RC F has presence with its rakish lines and those dagger like details. Then the optional Carbon pack adds in even more menace with a full-fledged sprinkling of glossy carbon details like a full carbon hood, roof and a rear wing, not to mention more performance focused wheels and tyres. If anything, these details only enhance the aggression of the RC F with a brooding demeanour about it.
Inside, though it’s pure luxury with a subtle nod towards performance. The aforementioned carbon pack brings in lashings of carbon fibre trim inside too which forms a unique amalgamation with leather also overing every part of the car. You are cocooned in sports seats while the display up-front changes ccording to the mode selected. However there is a dash of wonderful retro too with an analogue clock!
The RC F is a different kind of recipe from your usual fare dished out by the European sports car makers. or starters, Lexus has not yet bowed at the altar of turbo-charging which means the RC F ets a high revving engine. Thus it results in a spine tingling sound track as you are egged on to visit its ed line a lot more often that you should. It also drives with a lot more vigour than many other sports cars ith a distinct personality shining through. Lexus has put in a lot of work to distinguish this car from thers and that shows. The RC F is not shy to proclaim its intensions of being a fun car with a ively handling set-up when duly provoked via its myriad settings. Yet when dialled down, it does the veryday chores quite well being useable on the road. The steering is delicate and makes the car easy to lace while it rides with the panache of a luxury car with a supple undertone.
Thus the RC F is about accessibility and providing a pure sports car experience without taxing you for it. ts radiant character and jawdropping looks add to the appeal along with an enriching driving experience, o doubt helped in leaps and bounds by that soulful V8 bellow. The RC F, in this arbon pack, especially offers a more tantalizing and raw sports car experience not matched by others. Lexus is contemplating an India launch but in terms of positioning, this car occupies a unique iche within a niche of sorts. That V8 gives it character but the trappings of luxury also give it luxury GT credentials.
Lexus follows a philosophy called as “omotenashi“ which in Japanese means hospitality and treating omeone with affection. In many ways, its cars evoke that same feeling. The RC F delivers on a unique xperience which leaves a lasting impression- that is ultimately what a sports car should be all about.
