


Porsche is best known for its 911 but it also has been successful with its SUV range, notably the Macan which occupies a vast chunk of its overall sales in India. Hence, the new Macan will certainly stir things up for the German luxury brand in terms of volumes. The launch of the new Macan brings in additional upgrades to its powertrain, design and features. Alongside the new Macan, the much-awaited Taycan has also been launched in India. The Taycan is of course, an electric luxury sedan while even its Cross Turismo sibling is here. Porsche has also announced that it will expand its India presence with four new showrooms set to open in the first half of 2022.



Back to the new cars and Porsche has tweaked the Macan with an altered front-end with new LED headlamps and mirrors while the rear gets an overhauled diffuser. The interior of the new Macan is further cleaned up with less clutter in terms of buttons and a tweaked instrument cluster with more detailing. Compared to the previous Macan, there is more equipment as standard. Whether an SUV or sports car, a Porsche is all about its engine and here the Macan gets a new turbocharged, four-cylinder engine with 265PS along with a standard seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission. The Macan being an SUV also gets all-wheel-drive as standard. The Macan range has more though with the Macan S and Macan GTS getting a bigger 2.9-litre V6 biturbo engine offering a top speed of 272km/h in the GTS along with 440PS.



However, in terms of sheer performance figures, the Taycan operates on a different space with its eye-popping acceleration times. The Taycan Turbo S sports saloon is actually the most powerful sports car in the Porsche range thanks to 761 PS plus the ability to go 0-100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds. Being an electric car, another important aspect is the range that it offers and here the Taycan can deliver up-to 484 km. The entry-level model packs in a single-deck 79.2 kWh Performance Battery with 408PS. A more off-road oriented version is the Taycan Cross Turismo which offers 456 km of range from its 93.4 kWh battery. Like the Taycan sport sedan, the Cross Turismo has the same 800-volt architecture and two-speed transmission.



The Taycan 4S Cross Turismo has 490 PS and 571 PS in overboost mode that gives it a 240 km/h top speed and a 0-100 km/h time of 4.1 seconds. The Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo offers 625 PS with a further 55 PS which brings the acceleration time to 100 km/h down to 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. Finally, the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo comes with no less than 761 PS and a 0-100 km/h time of just 2.9 seconds.



In terms of prices, the new Macan is retailed from Rs 8,321,000 INR while the all-new Taycan is available from 15,028,000 INR.
