Women’s Fashion
Fashion can be outrageous at times, making it look splendid on runways but hard to adopt in everyday life. The AW ‘19 ramps saw two diverse sides of fashion from black lace everything, jumbo-sized floor-length gowns to seriously sophisticated tailoring and dark florals for the season.

Shoulder pads
Get your shoulder pads on because the ’80s are the obsession of the season. Time to adopt the signature 1980s look and make shoulders the focal point of your outfit. Clearly, the quickest way to power up your work outfits.
For inspiration have a look at Saint Laurent, Gucci, Prabal Gurung, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs’s renderings from the AW’19 show.
The return of tights

Houndstooth
The Autumn-Winter Ramps saw the perfect high-contrast winter motif, houndstooth in dominating silhouettes from head-to-toe and fusing of a retro spirit with a distinctly androgynous allure. Thinking of how to wear this trend? Pick the classic houndstooth blazer and skirt suits for workwear or wear as separates for all your casual affairs.

Colour Crush
Winters need not be only about practical navys, severe blacks, and the warm and earthy tones only. This season is all about pulsating colours that make the gloomy weather brighten up a little. Think of loud saturated colours walking down the ramps of Max Mara, Balenciaga, Simon Porte and more. Add this trend as a purse, hat or shoes if neons are too overwhelming for you
Leather trousers
What’s new in trousers, you ask? Keeping you warm and in-trend, Leather is your new go-to. Whether they’re biker-inspired, as seen at Bottega Veneta, high-waisted and high-shine, as with Isabel Marant, or close-fitting and sharply-cut, as seen at Hermès and Roberto Cavalli, they propose an attitudinal approach to chic. Invest immediately!

La Vie En Rose
While florals for spring are a given, it was pleasant to see romance on the cards for autumn as well. And what’s the most obvious manifestation of all this romantic feeling? Roses. Seen at Valentino, Prada, Dries Van Noten and Richard Quinn. The Runway saw roses ranging from micro prints to huge overalls. Pick your interpretation of the trend while listening to the tunes of Louis Armstrong
Minimals for the lady
As temperatures drop, you’ll want to play the woman in the grey flannel suit. The heavy suiting and dark tones did good to none. Here are pragmatic but chic clothes that are a fresh take on the season. Easy silhouettes and weightless fabrics ruled the runways of Jil Sander, Loewe, Fendi, Stella McCartney and Tod’s. Ideal for the woman who likes to experiment yet keep things functional.

Men’s Fashion
The winter of 2019 saw exciting fashion trends for the gent.
As in seasons past, designers played their failsafe cards, with oversized shoulders ever-present on the runways, as well as extreme padding, lashings of leather and faux-fur. Streetwear and sportswear joined forces, with office wear reincarnated in the form of suit/parka ensembles for a firmly preppy air. Not to mention the array of prints, from the wild to the subtly poetic. Here is our edit of the 23 key menswear trends of Fall/Winter 2019-2020.

All black Outerwear
The whole Ozzy Osbourne feel, with the all-black outerwear, set the tune for men and their winter looks. From oversized slick leather trench coats to bomber jackets, and neither being too matt nor too shiny, the blacks were just the right amount of black that all men must have in their wardrobes.
Seen at Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Berluti, Dunhill, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Marni, Paul Smith and more, gentlemen, if there is one trend you must follow this winter, it’s going to be this.

Denim suits
With a general mood shift towards athleisure, structured suits took a hit in the last few seasons. Here’s a little come back to try with a twist. This Autumn Winter’19 suits are back but not as you know it. The denim romanced with suits and that is what is getting served. While not as structured as a formal two-piece suit, we are loving the whole new feel.
From oversized denim jackets teamed with matching oversized jeans and slim-cut jackets paired with similar jeans, the double denim took over the runways in a refreshing new way. Seen at MSGM, E. Tautz, Bobby Abley, Pronounce, Liam Hodges, Jil Sander, Wooyoungmi and Jaquemus.

Oversized trench coats
The trench coat trend really flapped into action last season with the dawn of Riccardo Tisci’s first collection for Burberry, when the designer showed a host of iterations of the classically British style in fabrics ranging from classic gabardine to cashmere. The reimagining of the style continued this season with a series of totally contrasting takes on the coat. The oversized trench coats with different trims and detailing made it big on the runway.
Seen at Neil Barrett, Daniel W Fletcher, Pronounce, E. Tautz, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Valentino.
Harry Potter scarves
With a general mood shift towards athleisure, structured suits took a hit in the last few seasons. Here’s a little come back to try with a twist. This Autumn Winter’19 suits are back but not as you know it. The denim romanced with suits and that is what is getting served. While not as structured as a formal two-piece suit, we are loving the whole new feel.
One big accessory trend for Autumn Winter ‘19 is for massively oversized scarves a la Harry Potter. Ultra-thick and looking as though they’ve been knitted by the beloved granny. From loosely flung lengthy scarves to the academic styles and the super-long crusty-come-cozy pieces wrapped around models’ necks, these cozy pieces will keep you warm and stylish this winter. As shown by Kent & Curwen, Bobby Abley, E. Tautz, Nicholas Daley, Valentino, Acne Studios and Loewe.

Longline puffer jackets
PVC puffer jackets have never really been considered high fashion but, thanks to the rise in popularity for technical garb, the style has gotten to hero status. Once a staple for mountaineering types, the autumn/ winter 2019 runways declared the puffer as the must-have coat of the season featuring longline versions of the functional piece. The designers played around with this fun clothing item and presented us with their muted, printed and unique takes on the piece. Iceberg, Fendi, DSquared2, Marni, Kent & Curwen, Ermenegildo Zegna, Dries Van Noten and Rick Owens were amongst the few who showed their love for the puffer.

Leopard print
Leopard print has skyrocketed in popularity in womenswear over the last couple of seasons, and now it’s menswear’s turn. A roaring trend that has seen items in the print sell out over and over again, leopard print has come to be considered somewhat of a neutral thanks to its ability to work well with most skin tones and other colours already in your wardrobe. For AW’19 leopard print was everywhere – from bright Day-Glo takes on the style, to shaggy leopard coats, to that leopard print tuxedo. Style tip: Keep your use of the pattern to a minimum – a flash here or there will suffice, and keep the pattern to your top half only. Leopard print trousers are not a thing. Seen on the runways of Philipp Plein, Neil Barrett, Versace, Marni, MSGM, Celine and Dior, this print is definitely the ‘It’ thing of the season.
